The mission of Fruita Monument High School is to lead all students to reach their individual potential by rigorously pursuing and evaluating achievement of high academic and ethical standards in a disciplined and nurturing environment.

Welcome Back!

The 2017-18 school year is right around the corner! I hope that you have had a wonderful summer and were able to take some time to enjoy it. I am looking forward to another amazing school year with the best and brightest students in the state. Wildcat registration begins on Monday, August 7th with the class of 2018. If you have any questions regarding registration please feel free to give us a call at 254-6600.

We are gearing up for many of the activities that remind us of the excitement of high school life.  The first week of school we will introduce sophomores to class officers and “The Wildcat Way” in class meetings, conduct our first fire drill and cap the week off with the Blue and White Dance! We will also kick off our fall sports and marching band season the following week. I am looking forward to many exciting matches, games and performances.  Please encourage your students to get involved in a club, sport or extra-curricular activity. There is something for everyone at FMHS and those that get involved have a richer experience, a higher GPA and are better prepared to enter the next phase of their life.

Rumors regarding the pool closing permanently are true.  There are several factors leading to this decision. Due to the age of the pool, the cost to keep the pool running and meet current safety codes has become cost prohibitive (daily maintenance, heating issues, boiler repairs, liner issues, foundation issues, filtration issues, outdated parts).  With the addition of the swimming pool at the Fruita Recreation Center along with their willingness to provide swim time for our swim team, it makes financial sense to close the pool and create a modern space that our students and community will use.

I am excited to announce the addition of a few new staff members. Lucas Archuleta is a  looking forward to returning to FMHS after spending several years at Central High School. Lucas is a 1992 FMHS graduate and former coach at FMHS.  J.D. Muller is rejoining our staff on a halftime basis. J.D. was here from 2000-2007 and will be a welcomed addition to our special education staff.  Sarah Hogue, a 2006 graduate of FMHS, will be serving our students as a “Career and College Advisor”.  Teryn Goulet will be replacing Bess James who recently took a job in Anchorage, Alaska.  Teryn did her student teaching last year at Fruita 8/9 and is a graduate of CMU.  While we will miss some treasured friends on staff, our new additions will be bringing experience, positive energy and plenty of fresh ideas.
